
Mike Gorey, from Ingonish, Nova Scotia, began learning music at a young age by taking lessons at the Gaelic College in St. Ann’s.
He studied guitar with James MacDonald of North Sydney for five years before being accepted into St. Francis Xavier University, where he later graduated with a minor in music.
Mike also graduated with honours from NSCC’s Recording Arts program and completed his work term at the award-winning Lakewind Sound recording studio.
As the former lead guitarist of the Halifax-based band Faded Blue, Mike contributed to writing their song “Turn It Up,” which reached number one on the East Coast Countdown.
In 2014, as part of the duo Adrianne & Mike, he received the Celtic Colours Festival Drivers Association’s “Big Sampie” Award.
Mike has performed at the Celtic Colours International Festival and at many other festivals and venues throughout Atlantic Canada.
His original songs have received international radio play and have even been covered by artists as far away as Germany.
He currently plays bass with The Decades and guitar with Broken Road.
